Given that I have evidence that George Needham was certainly a licensed victualler and was born in 1796 in Bethnal Green I am now certain, thanks to you, that my great great great grandfather, George Needham, was the publican of the Hare in 1848, and the Norfolk Arms in 1843. He would have been 52 at the time. He would not show up at the Hare in the 1851 census because he was visiting his son Joseph at the "Prince of Wales", Buxton Street, Mile End. This would be about a fifteen minute walk from the Hare in North Bethnal Green. Also he was retired by the 1861 census and living in Leyton and would have left the Hare by this time. **1843/George Needham/../../../Kellys Directory ***
