In 1839, 1841, 1869 and from 1891, aka Birdcage;
Present between 1803 and 1851 at least under the name Birdcage. In the 18th
century, from at least 1720, there was a pub in this street called the Bell
Inn, being a different premises a few doors away. The Bell Inn was
depicted by Hogarth in a pair of 1732 engravings called The Harlot’s
Progress.
