I am researching my father’s family and have a birth certificate for my
grandmother’s 1st husband, Frederick Charles Fletcher who was born on 27th
October 1893 at 247, Whitechapel Road, (he was
actually born as Charles Frederick Fluhrer but the family anglisized their
name sometime before the outbreak of the 1st World War and he it would seem
preferred to be known as Frederick Charles). He was the son of William
Fluhrer (later Fletcher) and Margaret Fluhrer (nee Weidner). William’s
occupation is given as “Beer House Keeper” . *
In the 1891 census, William Fluhrer is listed as being of, “45, Grove Street,
Commercial Road East and then in 1910 he appears as Wm. Fletcher of 21, Chicksand Street, Spitalfields. *
