Untitled 1

Fortune of war, 249 Priory Road, Hastings

This pub was built in about 1810 and rebuilt about 30 years later to correct faults, since then various additions and alterations were made. It seems it was aptly named as it survived WW2 with barely a scratch while the area around it suffered badly from bombing raids. The pub closed in the 1960s and was demolished circa 1970. A picture of the pub, which projected some distance into the road and was a local traffic hazard can be found here. The area where the Pub was is now a road. ***
