White Lion, 7 & 8 St Michaels Terrace, Dorset Place, Hastings

Named and listed at 7 & 8 Dorset Place in 1878 and in the 1901 census and as late as 1905 according to Trade directories. This one took some finding as the St Michaels Terrace name isn't used today, however, many Hastings Streets were renumbered in 1903 and I found the following entries in the London Gazette entry 1, entry 2, entry 3. This would indicate the pub was at No.2 Dorset Place in 1904 and landlord Richard Thomas Quance was having difficulties. It seems probable that the pub ceased trading at this time. The White Lion was the third pub within 50 yards, The other two were the Cambridge Hotel Cambridge Road and the Dripping Well, at 1 Dorset Place, both of which are already on your list and next door to each other. The White Lion was on the other side of the road (Dorset Place).  ***
