Melvilles 1858 Directory of Kent.

LAMBERHURST is a parish and small town, eight miles from Tunbridge Wells, S.W. The population in 1851 was 1,734, The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is an ancient building. The living is a vicarage, in the presentation of the Dean and Chapter of Rochester.
The Rev. Robert Hawkins is the incumbent. Here is a place of worship for the Wesleyans and Baptists; the latter is a neat building and can accommodate 300 persons.
