Swingfield Public Houses


SWINGFIELD, is a village six miles north of Folkestone, and six N.W. of Dover, in Folkestone hundred. The church contains a nave, aisle, and chancel, with square tower. The living is a perpetual curacy in the patronage and incumbency of the Rev. George Crespigny Lamotte, M.A. The population in 1851 was 424. St. John's is half a mile north; North Court half a mile N.E.; Stockham three quarters of a mile North; Swanton one mile N.E.; ,Wickham Bushes.two miles N,E; Chalk Sole one and a half miles East; Beard's Hole half a mile South ; Ellinge half a mile S.E.; Everdean one mile South; Bonnington half a mile S.W.; Swingfield Minnis is a large common, one and a half mile west; near it are Foxall Pound Farm, Densell Ridge Row, Oad, Selsted, and Maypole.
