Melvilles 1858 Directory of Kent.

TROTTESCLIFFE, a very small village, nine miles west of Maidstone, and three miles N.W. of Malling. The population in 1851 was 253. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. The living is a rectory, in the patronage of the Bishop of Rochester; the Rev. E.G. Shepherd, M.A., is the incumbent.

POST-OFFICE. - Mrs, Susannah Packham, Receiver. Letters arrive through Maidstone.
The nearest Money Order Office is at Wrotham.
