WROTHAM is a village and parish, 11 miles N.W. from Maidstone; 10 S.W. from Gravesend, and eight N.E. from Sevenoaks. The population in 1851 was 3,184. The church, dedicated to St. George, is an ancient and spacious edifice. The living comprises a sinecure rectory and a vicarage, in the patronage of the Archbishop of Canterbury; the Rev. Charles Lane is the incumbent.

WOODLANDS is a hamlet of Wrotham parish, and is three miles north. br /> Here is a very neat church.

PLATT is another hamlet in this parish. The population in 1851 was
997. The church is dedicated to St. Mary, and is considered a handsome
edifice.

POST-OFFICE. - John Ashdown, Sub-Postmaster. Daily Mail arrives at 7 A.M., and
dispatched at 5-30 P.M. Thomas Ashdown, Driver of, and Contractor for the Daily
Mail from Sevenoaks to Wrotham. Money Orders issued and paid at this office
from 9 in the morning till 5 in the afternoon.
