My Grandfather, Frederick John Putner, was the Publican at the Lord
Derby, after Edward Haylett. He was previously the Landlord of The
Brewery Tap in Holloway Road, North London. He died in 1942. and although
his 2 sons were serving in WW2, my Granny continued to run the pub until her
sons returned. They then, in 1945 or 46 took over the running of the Lord
Derby. They were Reginald and Frank Putner. ***

My uncle Reg Putner ran the pub along with my aunt, Doris. They sold up in
the 1960s and took over another Courages pub in Cockfosters, the Trent Tavern,
now sadly demolished. The Putner family were well known music hall
stars back in the 1900s. *
