Elephant & Hind, 19 Market Square, Dover CT16 1NL

Ellie, Market Square. The earlier building was two pubs. One was owned by Fremlins, whose insignia was an Elephant and the other was owned by Whitbreads, whose insignia was a Hind. When Fremlins brewery was taken over by Whitbread, they knocked the two pubs into one building and re-named it 'The Elephant & Hind'. The photos show the pub and in the second picture a view of the old covered market building, now Dover Museum and Library, to the right of the picture. **
