1841/Henry Emberson/Vine Tap/../../Post Office Directory ****

My great grandfather (x5) - William Packman was proprietor of the Vine Inn, 70 (or 68/69) Bishopsgate Within, in the 1841  census. I have also found a reference to a bankruptcy in The London Gazette in the 1830's which refers to a William Packman of The Three Tuns Tavern, Jewry Street, although I haven't yet been able to establish that this was 'my' William Packman, it seems very likely. William Packman died in 1846 and the proprietorship of The Vine Inn appears to have passed to his son, Charles John Packman (my great grandfather x4) (1851 census). By the time of the 1861 census Charles John Packman had taken over proprietorship of the White Horse, Islington - part of the Metropolitan Cattle Market which had been built in 1855.  *
