Originally at 17 Passmore Street and numbered 29 Passmore Street by 1938; Although first licensed in 1869, this pub was the very last 'Beer Retailer' in London - possibly the last in England - only receiving a full licence in 1998. The Fox & Hounds is a more modern name for the Pub. **

The Pidgeon Family : Emma Gundry
was the niece of Emma Payne, with whom she was living at the Rising Sun,
Fulham in 1881. Emma Pidgeon was born near Ashburton, Devon in 1855 and came
to London as a teenager. In 1871 she was working as a domestic servant in
Hackney. She married Thomas Gundry in 1883. Thomas, born in 1856 at Camden
Town, was the son of a cabinet maker, in whose steps he followed, until he
married Emma. Both gave their address as
1 Vernon Street, Fulham on the
marriage record.
In 1891 Thomas and Emma Gundry were at the Somerset Arms, 17 Passmore
Street. Emma died in 1893, aged 37. *
