Nathaniel Fountain, married to Amelia Elizabeth nee Plowman (I think my great, great, great grandparents), occupied this address as Wine Merchants as far back as 1830. My ancestors appear to have been either coach proprietors or in the drinks industry. I suppose in those days drinking and driving was common-place. ***

My Great great Grandfather ,John Joseph Mason, was ,I believe the publican of the Marquis of Granby pub in 1867. I obtained his daughter's birth certificate and it stated she was born at 38, Percy Street, St Pancras. The family moved to Vere Street , St Clements Danes the following year-in 1868, where they ran The Lamb. *
