By 1739 there were two separate pubs present here, the Ham and the Windmill. By the 1880s the two had merged to become the Ham & Windmill. The name was changed to the Lyric Tavern in 1890 and the pub was re-built in its current form in 1906. It closed in 2007.  **

My Great Great Grandad was a publican at this pub according to the 1841 census, I can't find out what happened but when his son was born in 1843 he was living in Norton Folgate East London; and on his son's birth certificate it says "Out of business formally a licensed victualler. He originally came from Wiltshire and married a Jane (also known as Ann) Marshall in 1835, both are on the 1841 census. *
