Westminster St Margaret index
This Hotel stood by the river on the northern side of Bridge Court. I do not know when it was founded, but its extensive refurbishment was announced by T. Scrivener, late of Mr Dunn’s (“The Swan”) in The Morning Post of 27th March 1826. For a while it rivalled The Swan as a fashionable place to stay or to entertain, but it seems to have fallen on harder times by 1858: the freeholders tried to let it in January, but apparently without much success as it was advertised for sale in April. Bridge Court disappeared completely with the building of Westminster station on the Metropolitan and District Railway in 1868. ***
