Great Blakenham in the 1879 Kellys Directory

Great Blakenham is a village and parish near the navigable Gipping, half a mile from Claydon station, 73½ miles from London and 5 north west from Ipswich.
In the eastern division, Bosmere hundred, Bosmere and Claydon union. The church of St Mary is in the early English style, restored in 1878. The register dates from 1549.
The population in 1871 was 236.
