Ship Inn, 23 Bourne Street, Hastings

At 9 Bourne Street in 1878. Sadly nothing remains of this ancient pub which closed in 1908. The renewal of the license was refused. The pub seems to have been located at the eastern end of Post Office Passage where it joined Great Bourne Street. This Street (also known simply as Bourne Street) no longer exists and the area has been completely rebuilt into the road now called The Bourne, so it's not possible to say exactly where the pub stood as this end of today's Post Office Passage may take a different course.  ***
