Lord Napier - in 1945 just after bomb damage and modern day art
My Grandfather, back row last on left, at what looks like the end or start of a day out or just a booze up. A man who started life very poor, was in a workhouse in 1901, aged 11; and then off to the war to end all wars in 1914 as one of the first to volunteer for battle. Hence known as an Old Contemptible. Off to France and shot in the right arm after just two weeks. After amputation, he was invalided out shortly after to receive his very high war pension and gratitude from the Government. His wife Edith worked, and can be seen, at at the Morpeth Castle in the 1920's**
